Primary Surgeon
Record surgical procedures where you assumed the role of the primary surgeon.
Primary Surgeon & Anesthesiologist
Record the surgical procedure performed as well as the anesthesia you administered.
Anesthesiologist Only
The only procedure recorded should be the anesthesia administered.
First Assistant to Attending
If your role was first assistant to the attending, record the case using the same Patient ID/MRN number that the Primary Surgeon will use when recording their experience.*This will ensure each resident receives credit for their individual experience.
First Assistant to Attending and Anesthesiologist
Record the surgical procedure performed as well as the anesthesia you administered.
FAQs
*Won’t that mean that certain cases will be entered twice?
Yes. In instances where multiple residents participate in a surgical procedure, and each records their own role, the surgical case will be entered multiple times. Each resident should record the case using the same Patient ID/MRN number. This will ensure accurate case reports.
Can I record my experience as a second assistant?
No. The purpose of this RSL is to capture experiences of the primary surgeon, first assistant, and any anesthesia procedures. You are welcome to maintain a personal log of experiences as second assistant.
